Copy Me That vs Forktales: clipping, scanning and who sees your recipes
Copy Me That clips recipes from websites into a planner and a shopping list for about a dollar a month. Forktales reads cards, books and screenshots into a recipe box your friends can see. Both run in a browser. The difference is what you start from and who you share with.
Forktales wrote this page. It makes one of the apps in it, says so where it matters and names what it does not do.

Copy Me That and Forktales both live in a browser, and both start by saving a recipe from a web page. Copy Me That adds a planner, a shopping list and a community of other people’s recipes. Forktales adds a scanner for the cards and books you photograph, and a feed of what your friends cook.

Choose Copy Me That if
- Most of your recipes come from websites and you clip several a week. The extension is built for that.
- You plan meals and shop from the plan.
- You want the cheapest subscription in these comparisons. The limit goes for CA$16.49 a year.
- You like browsing what strangers save.
Choose Forktales if
- Your best recipes are not on a website. The scanner reads cards, books and screenshots, handwriting included, and keeps only the typed recipe.
- You want the people who see your recipes to be people you know. Friends only means a mutual friendship, no public profile, no algorithm.
- You do not want a recipe limit or a subscription for the box itself.
Forktales has no planner and no shopping list, and does not export to a file. Copy Me That has all three, or says it does: the export format could not be checked on the day.
Move your recipes from Copy Me That
Start with the clipped ones
A recipe clipped from a website keeps its address. Open it in Copy Me That, copy the source link and paste it into Forktales’s import box. The page is read and the recipe lands in the editor.Paste the typed ones
Copy the ingredients and method as text and paste them into the scan panel. Forktales types them up as a recipe. A screenshot of the recipe page works too, for one credit.Take the export
Copy Me That says you can export at any time. Do that first and keep the file, whatever its format. Forktales does not read it, but it is your copy.
What we checked, and did not
The Copy Me That column is from its Canadian App Store listing and its Chrome and Firefox extension pages, read on 31 October 2026. copymethat.com itself returned an error on every page that day, so export, pasted text, household sharing and the private default are marked not verified. We make Forktales and use it daily. We did not run Copy Me That side by side for this page.
