Kitchen island
Loading the island
How it works
- Score as many points as you can before 19:00.
- Everyone gets the same island. A new one starts at midnight UTC.
- Foraging a tile or cooking a dish takes an hour. A no-heat recipe takes no time. The day ends at 19:00.
- Each dish lifts the fog from three more tiles.
- The book holds 41 recipes, each with the reason it works.
- Your first finished day goes on the board. You can play the island again for practice.
- After your day, you can watch the best route found on the island.
- Practice islands are random and not ranked.
How a dish scores
- A recipe scores its value. Each ingredient it is better with adds a quarter, up to two.
- No salt: ×0.7. Salt makes savoury food taste more of itself. It dulls bitterness and lifts the other flavours.
- Stuck to the pan: ×0.5. Frying needs a film of oil or butter to carry heat into the food and stop it sticking.
- The same recipe twice in one day scores half the second time.
- Each day the island wants one dish. It scores double.
- Anything that is not a recipe is a kitchen experiment. It scores 4 points and comes with a hint.
Forktales is a recipe box for the food you cook at home. Scan a recipe card, save a recipe from a link or ask a friend for theirs, and cook it again with the steps in big type. See how Forktales works
